Global power was extremely important in the Middle Ages. It signified control, as well as wealth. As Egyptian power decline, Judah, a powerful tribe, brought forth David, a messiah (2:1). The Egyptian used to have power over the Jews, but not anymore. Israel had a powerful army, and, rather that believing in ruling with power and justice, they ruled with equality(2:1). Israel had much power, despite its small size and population.
